Used for flattening and truing very long surfaces and jointing long boards over 6 feet. Works very well when used on a long shooting board. A cabinet makers work horse.
It is 2 3/4” wide x 1 7/8” high, and you specify the length between 24” to 27”.
Weighs 6.83 lbs.
Option of an Tool Steel (TS) blade hardened to RC 62-64 OR a High Speed Steel (HSS) blade hardened to RC 62.
Blade pitch is 55 degrees for excellent results on hard or difficult grain.
Blade is reversible to bevel up, effectively creating a blade pitch of 85 degrees, allowing it to be used as a scraper on difficult and reversing grain. It’s two tools in one!
HSS is ideal if you plan to reverse the plane to bevel up and use it as a scraper, as it will hold up better under heat. However, it will take longer to sharpen.
The blade is 4 3/8” long x 2” wide x 1/4” thick.
For adjustment there is a fine thread screw with lateral movement (10th of a turn gives meaningful change in depth).
The mouth is protected by a brass rub plate.
Knob and tote handle superbly shaped by Ross Burgess.
Made from Gidgee, a very dense and stable Australian wood.
