Block Plane
Block Plane
This block plane has a higher blade pitch of 55 degrees - optimized for hard, difficult timber. However, it works equally as well on softer woods. Used for general purpose planing or trimming of any small pieces of wood, particularly hardwood and end grain. Easily used in one hand.
It is 6 7/8” long x 2 1/8” wide x 1 1/2 ” high.
Weighs 1.75 lbs.
Option of an O1 Tool Steel (O1 TS) blade hardened to RC 62-64 OR High Speed Steel (HSS) blade hardened to RC 62.
Blade pitch of 55 degrees - optimized for hard, difficult, or figured woods.
Blade is reversible to bevel up, effectively creating a blade pitch of 85 degrees, allowing the plane to be used as a scraper. It’s two tools in one!
The HSS is ideal if you plan to reverse the blade to bevel up and use it as a scraper since it will hold up better under heat. However, it will take longer to sharpen.
The blade is 3 3/16” long x 1 1/2” wide x 1/8” thick.
Knob handle superbly shaped by Ross Burgess.
The plane body is Gidgee, a very dense and stable Australian wood.
