Hamilton Joinery Knife
Hamilton Joinery Knife
The Hamilton Joinery Knife is designed to compliment the Hamilton Marking Gauge. It is an essential part of the tool kit for laying out joinery in fine woodworking.
Throughout Jeff Hamilton’s woodworking and tool making career, he has used many different knives, but he found himself always reaching for a knife he made in a woodworking class back in the early 2000's. The knife featured a 1/2" wide spear point blade, thin flat handle and an incorporated sheath that protects the sharp edge. He has combined these features with a few special touches to create a high quality layout tool that will last for generations.
The knife is approximately 6 3/4" long, 11/16" wide, 5/16" thick and weighs on average 2 ounces. The blade is O-1 tool steel with a Rockwell hardness of 60-62 HRC. The exposed blade is 2" long, 1/2" wide, 1/16" thick and features a 50 degree spear point with the primary grind of 25 degrees and has a 30 degree micro bevel. The fitted sheath has a rare earth magnet embedded inside to keep it in place. All knives are finished by hand and are buffed and waxed to help protect the knives.
